The overall synopsis is incredibly strong as well.
The other characters are also likable and have complex backgrounds that draw the player in. The supernatural force that resurrects him is an equally cool character, being shady and mysterious in the most stylish way possible. Although Eike is somewhat generic, he's still likable and that really shows in the gameplay. By the same token, he isn't completely emotionless, nor is he a silent protagonist. The characters, for one, are great Eike is a very neutral character which really highlights the fact that he's some some average guy who's fighting for his life. Soon, however, he discovers that his killer cannot be so easily deterred, and he ends up on a lengthy quest to prevent his death as many times as he needs to, each time bringing him closer to discovering who the murderer really is.Īs far as plotlines go, Shadow of Destiny is pretty hard to beat. In the prologue, Eike manages to prevent his death by going back in time thirty minutes and assembling a group of people around the town square so that he isn't alone. After dying for the first time, he ends up in a sort of purgatory and is given a time traveling device (called a Z-Pad) from a disembodied voice. You play as Eike Kusch, an average everyman who dies via stabbing at the beginning of the game but is brought back by a mysterious force to find and prevent the underlying cause of his death.Īs previously stated, Eike is trying to prevent his own death.
It's over a decade old now, having been made in 2001, but ranks among the best games due to its fascinating plotline. Shadow of Destiny is a port of the original PS2 game. The storyline will suck you in like a really good book. If you want the short version, this game is just overall awesome.
